Who is your community?

community is like a family

In the morning, Lord, I lift my heart to You

You are the God who knows me true

When hope for this world I fail to see

You remind me of the hope we have in Your Son

How He gave His life that we would see

the hope that lies within Him and Thee

When I get wrapped up in terrorism’s evil tyranny

show me how I can help others be set free

Let me not be ensnared by the trap of the Enemy

to keep my focus on world events

to the exclusion of all else

There are hurting lives all around me

People trapped in their prisons

who cannot see the Light

The Hope

The way

who have darkness in each day

They are losing hope or have lost it

Yes, Father, I know world events are important

We need to know what is happening around us

But my concern is for getting so wrapped up in it

that we fail to see the

hurting

bleeding

lonely

dying

rejected

struggling

addicted

abused

physically and/or developmentally challenged

blind

deaf

mentally ill

rich

poor

politician

prostitute

hungry

believer

atheist

agnostic

Those who live in paralyzing fear

who cannot see their brighter day

who have lost hope along life’s way

Let us not forget them

They are the suffering of humanity

They are our community

Father, I pray all of us this truth would see

Amen.

Kevin and Karen Osborne are Christian pastoral counsellors and psychotherapists. We are starting You Can Hope Again Counselling. Karen enjoys doing cross-stitch while I like writing and singing songs. Karen makes me laugh when she sings the kitty bed-time song saying, “It’s that time. It’s the bestest kitty time of the day!” Kevin enjoys teasing the kitties and making them do kitty dances with music. Their kitty, Catherine, loves it when kitty daddeh sings All Creatures Great and SmallKevin likes doing impressions.  He tells children’s stories using his hand puppet, Dr. Teddy.
