Blessed Are Those Who Mourn

“Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4, NASB). How many saw those horrific scenes of death in Egypt? I had to turn away from it because it reminded me of the pain of seeing a child, who had died of pneumonia in a hospital, being taken away in a body bag. Man’s inhumanity to man. Victims of senseless loss. Acts of terror. Unspeakable cruelty. Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” God help us. Lord, save us from ourselves. Give us Your peace as we face living in a world of increasing depravity. Amen.
