No, Really I’m Not Pregnant

A humorous reflection of being a Korean missionary. I had the honour of being invited to a dinner while being a teacher at the International English School in the eastern coastal city of Kangung. I had practiced the Korean phrase for “I’m full” many times. With confidence when asked if I wanted anything further to eat I said I was full, or so I thought. My hosts didn’t know whether to laugh or not. Knowing I had royally blown it, I asked the translator what I really said. Trying unsuccessfully to contain his laughter, he said, “You said you’re full with child!” When I laughed, they joined in on teasing me:)
